Günter Grass: My Football Century
16.03.2020 to 30.09.2020
Günter Grass was a passionate football fan who regularly watched the German TV sports show »Sportschau« and attended live matches at the stadium. He sided with the »small« clubs, such as SC Freiburg and St. Pauli. Footfall features in his works, too. Visitors to our exhibition will discover manuscripts, watercolours, and many other original exhibits by the Literature Nobel laureate. This show, however, which was organised by the Günter Grass-House together with the German Football Museum, goes far beyond Grass. Football in Germany is highlighted in its historical and cultural dimensions. Valuable loans, such as the ball used in the 1954 World Cup »Miracle of Bern« or the original goal from the legendary 2014 World Cup match Germany vs Brazil (7–1) add a special appeal to the exhibition.
